Open for business…in Los Angeles | General
February 4, 2010 //

Help needed! I am actively seeking to book photography jobs in Los Angeles. The ideal setup would be to expand my reach enough to commute between Nashville and LA for shoots/projects. Pretty lofty goal, right? Well, a few of you may remember an email that I sent out roughly a year ago when I made one of the first steps to go after my photography interest…
____

“Over the past several months I’ve become serious about pursuing photography. I’m not at a place to have photography become a full time occupation to support me financially, but hopefully I will be at that place in the future. One of these days I’d love to be a wedding and/or fine art photographer. For this next step the most ideal set up would be to assist a professional photographer. That way, I’m gaining valuable experience as a photographer and bringing in a decent income to help cover the bills. However, I know it can be very challenging to land a set up like that.”

Crazy to think about that time in my life and how impossible and far fetched it seemed to become a photographer. That whole process revealed to me the importance of inviting others into my journey. So many friends were influential in helping me throughout that process. My natural default (and for most of our culture) is to be independent. But, I need people. I need help. I need input. I could not have achieved my “impossible” goals without the community that was around me.

I definitely don’t want to limit my options to strictly wedding photography opportunities. I am thinking much broader than that. Such as head shots for actors/actresses, meeting with booking agents, meeting with other photographers, etc. For now, my goal is to get the word out. Any referral you have would be so helpful! My email can be found in the “Contact” tab above. Here’s to dreaming big.

  1. Sara Jane:

    This blog frequently features photographers in Southern California and might be a good way to get some wedding/engagement business to start with. {http://greenweddingshoes.blogspot.com/}
